Navistar closing Texas-based plant

Engine and truck maker Navistar announced Tuesday it intends to close its Garland, Texas, truck manufacturing plant as a cost-cutting measure. Navistar says the plant will close at an undetermined time in the first half of 2013.

The plant employes about 900 people. The trucks produced at the plant will be transitioned to another plant in North America, Navistar said, and closing the plant will save the company between $25 and $35 million a year.
