PPG releases new topcoat

PPG Commercial Coatings has introduced ALK28-901, a factory-packaged, 2.8 VOC alkyd enamel intended for general industrial use.

The new black topcoat is economical, fast-drying and suitable for trailers, metal fabrications, castings, cabinets, machinery and heavy-duty equipment, PPG says.

“This is an excellent high-quality product for the value-conscious coating segment,” says Steve Podlas, brand manager for PPG Commercial Coatings. “We’ve formulated ALK28-901 to be a versatile solution for a variety of industrial applications. It can be applied directly to metal, on select substrates or over approved primers.”

The topcoat also has been designed as a thin film build product requiring just one or two coats, PPG says, and it can be applied using conventional, HVLP, airless or air-assisted airless spray equipment and can be sprayed with or without reduction.
