Brillion earns supplier contract with Detroit

Accuride Corporation announces the Detroit subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has awarded Accuride’s Brillion Iron Works business unit a long-term contract to supply the flywheel used with the Detroit DT12 Automated Manual Transmission.

Brillion was named a strategic source of machined flywheels to Detroit in North America and will begin production of the components in the second half of 2016, Accuride says.

Earning the new business demonstrates Brillion’s overall competitiveness as a supplier of finished castings to leading producers of commercial vehicle and automotive components, the company says. Brillion will manufacture the flywheels through its collaborative business model with Tier 2 supplier Diamond Precision, which will provide machining and final assembly.

“Brillion’s recent capital investments – coupled with our relentless focus on Lean manufacturing and our strong partnerships with Diamond Precision and the United Steelworkers – enabled Brillion Iron Works to competitively earn this new business from Detroit Diesel Corporation, a Daimler company,” says David G. Adams, president of Brillion Iron Works.
