Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems activated its second solar installation in Huntington, Indiana. The 2,346-panel solar array is at the Bendix Distribution Center.
Plant 1's 1.168 megawatt array was launched in 2021 and the Huntington campus now generates more than 3 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity every year, saving an estimated 1,145 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

"This project represents another important investment in the cleaner, more efficient future we're building across Bendix," says Luis Quinones, Bendix's environmental and sustainability engineer. "It reflects our continued commitment to renewable energy, to our community and to doing what's right for the environment."
The solar array is situated over a bed of native, pollinator-friendly plants with a one-for-one replacement commitment for trees removed during construction.

"Integrating biodiversity into industrial projects is one of the most meaningful ways we can multiply our positive impact," Quinones says. "This installation doesn't just generate power — it regenerates the land it sits on."
The new array will produce about 1,600 megawatt hours per year. It's expected to supply about half of the distribution center's annual electricity demand and about 13% of the total needs of the entire campus. Bendix can supply surplus power to the local grid as conditions allow.
"Every new solar investment strengthens our ability to operate sustainably and competitively," Quinones says. "It's about carbon reduction and cost stability, energy independence and building resilience into our operations."
