International has entered the Class 8 electric tractor space. The company Wednesday introduced its newest electric offering, the eRH for regional haul and drayage applications.

Available in 4x2 and 6x4 axle configurations, International says the new eRH has a range of up to 300 miles, depending on configuration, battery capacity and use.

"We are excited to add the eRH to serve International's Class 8 battery-electric customers," says Justina Morosin, senior vice president of sales and field operations at International. "This new solution perfectly complements our current battery-electric vehicle lineup and underscores our commitment to innovation."

The eRH is built on the platform of the diesel-powered RH series. It has a 113-in., bumper to back-of-cab measurement for optimized foward visibility, International says, as well as industry-leading wheelbases for tight turning radiuses. The eRH also has Bendix's Fusion driver assistance system integrated and an ergonomic design.

"I'm proud of the R&D and all cross-functional teams at International. Bringing the eRH to the market was no small task, and it's something everyone takes pride in," says Michael Grahe, executive vice president of research and development. "Our teams have been working hand-in-hand with our customers throughout this development process to ensure the eRH not only meets the demands of their business today, but will continue to do so well into the future."

The eRH uses lithium nickel manganese cobalt battery options ranging from 300kWh to 500 kWh and three levels of driver-selectable regenerative braking.

International says it offers consulting services for customers that include infrastructure readiness, onboarding and grant support as well as planned maintenance contracts and loan and financing options through International Financial.

Production of the eRH will begin in 2026, the company says.
