Mack Trucks announced Thursday new ImpactShield windshields would be available on its expanded line of new trucks.
The ImpactShield, which uses Corning Fusion5 glass, is standard on the Mack Granite. Mack says it delivers a significant advancement in windshield durability, damage resistance and total cost of ownership.
The ImpactShield windshield is standard on the Mack Granite and is an upgrade on the Pioneer, Anthem and Keystone models.
"Mack customers don't have time for unplanned stops and neither do we," says Tim Wrinkle, vice president and product owner, vocational and medium duty. "Partnering with Corning to bring Fusion5 glass to heavy-duty trucking isn't just about using better materials; it's about finding every possible way to keep our customers' trucks on the job and their costs under control."

Corning Fusion5 glass was engineered specifically for automotive exterior applications. Compared to a standard Class 8 windshield, Mack says the new glass delivers twice the sharp impact resistance, twice the thermal shock resistance, five times more scratch resistance, improved resistance to environmental wear and weathering, weight reduction and improved defrost performance.

The Mack Granite will be available for order later this year with production beginning in 2027. While the Corning Fusion5 windshield is standard on the Granite, it can be added to the Mack Pioneer, Mack Anthem and Mack Keystone models.
