UAW holding rally ahead of DTNA negotiations

DTNA tractors isolated against the sky

United Auto Workers (UAW) President Shawn Fain will hold a rally in North Carolina Tuesday as the UAW prepares for contract negotiations with Daimler Truck North America (DTNA).

UAW announced last month 96% of its more than 7,000 workers across DTNA manufacturing sites in three states approved a strike authorization if the union and truck maker can not reach a deal for a new contract. UAW's current contract with DTNA expires April 26.

UAW and Fain stated Tuesday UAW members are "are standing up and speaking out against the workers’ unfair pay and worsening working conditions."

After the strike authorization vote was held, DTNA declined to comment, but stated it looked forward "to continuing good faith CBA negotiations with our UAW partners."
