Launched in 2000, it has more than 15,000 companies on board and more than 3,800 non-business signatories. More than 160 companies and 69 local networks are represented.
The compact is a call to companies to align their operations and strategies with 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, Navistar says. It also calls companies to support UN goals and issues in the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which include climate action, good health and wellbeing, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, responsible consumption and production, and industry innovation and infrastructure.
It provides Navistar with a framework to contribute actions towards broader goals, the company says, as it continues to pursue sustainable mobility. It is working toward decarbonization and circular business in its products, operations and supply chains, the company says. Navistar recently introduced a new code of conduct that relates to supplier and business partner due diligence and human rights, reducing emissions from Navistar's supply chain, and commitments to sustainable sourcing of raw materials.
