Two trucks, side by side, one a tractor and one a garbage truck.

Pacific Coast Heavy Truck Group, a Langley, British Columbia, truck dealer, is now certified for Mack and Volvo EVs.

“We decided to become EV-certified so that we were ready to support our customers because it is clear the future of transportation, and trucking specifically, is moving toward electrification,” says Pacific Coast's Ken North. “Several customers have inquired about the Mack LR Electric, and we look forward to servicing and supporting them in the future.”

Pacific Coast will offer the Class 8 Volvo VNR Electric and the Mack LR Electric refuse truck.

"Our customers are very interested in exploring how electric trucks can be a viable pathway in decarbonizing their fleet. With the higher upfront cost of battery-electric trucks, incentives play a big role in the purchasing decision, particularly for smaller fleets," says Bob Lawlor at Pacific Coast. "Our sales team is ready to help fleets take advantage of available funding opportunities and navigate the entire electromobility transition to make it as smooth as possible."

The certification process for both brands involves training technicians to understand the electric drivetrains and components unique to both brands. The dealership also invested in diagnostic tools and other equipment for technicians working on high-voltage systems and has four service bays dedicated to EVs at the Langley location. Pacific Coast also has locations in Kamloops, Chilliwack, Delta and Annacis Island.
