The grant will fund 97 school buses and related charging infrastructure, Lion says. In total, the EPA allocated nearly $1 billion to 67 applicants, which is expected to facilitate the purchase of more than 2,700 clean school buses in 280 districts serving 7 million students in 37 states.

"The ongoing investment from the federal government for cleaner school buses will tangibly contribute to the well-being of our children and communities, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase the number of electric school buses on American roads," says Nicolas Brunet, president of Lion. "Congratulations to the EPA and all the recipients, who will soon experience the many benefits of transitioning to zero-emission school buses."

Brunet adds that Lion will continue to assist clients with grants and other funding for clean buses. The EPA is accepting applications for the Clean School Bus Rebate Program until Jan. 31. The agency says it will award at least $500 million by April.
