Association of Diesel Specialists names convention keynote speaker

The Association of Diesel Specialists (ADS) announced retired Commander Kirk Lippold, U.S. Navy, as its convention keynote speaker.

Lippold will discuss leadership and accountability at the ASD International Convention and Trade Show, Jan. 21-22, at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center. The ASD meeting immediately precedes Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week at the resort.

Lippold was the commanding officer of the U.S.S. Cole when it came under a suicide terrorist attack by al Qaeda in the port of Aden, Yemen. He will talk about how the principle of integrity created a diverse and inclusive environment for leadership where his crew felt imbued with a sense of ownership, seizing the opportunity to be responsible for their ship and not just their jobs. He will share his "Five PIllars of Leadership" and talk about why they are must-have tenets for any team.

"We are thrilled to have Commander Lippold as the ADS keynote speaker," says ADS CEO Scott D. Parker. "While he was the commanding officer of the U.S.S. Cole during the al Qaeda terrorist attack, his training and leadership were critical at that moment. He will share leadership lessons he has learned that members can take back to their organizations."

During the convention, ADS members will also receive diesel-specific industry education and training as well as networking opportunities with peers in the diesel sector. Register for both ADS and HDAW.
