The American Transportation Research Institute launched an online application on Tuesday for an opening on its Research Advisory Committee (RAC).
The RAC includes government officials, academics, professional truck drivers, trucking company executives and suppliers from across the industry. It recommends an annual research agenda for the institute.
"Serving on ATRI's Research Advisory Committee is one of the most sought-after industry appointments. This new online application form will allow us to more formally solicit interest and thoroughly review candidates prior to being considered by the ATRI Board of Directors," says Rebecca Brewster, president, ATRI.
More than 220 people have served on the RAC since 2002. ATRI says its research is reflective of the diversity of the committee.
The online form allows people to indicate their interest in being considered, describe their unique experience and perspective, and how they would contribute to the research identification process. There is also a separate form for people to nominate a colleague.
If appointed to the RAC, members serve two, one-year terms and are required to attend one annual in-person meeting and participate throughout the year in ad hoc research webinars. Additionally, they are expected to support ATRI through active participation in research initiatives.
Applications received now will be reviewed next summer for the 2025-2026 RAC.
