The Nuss family, owners of Nuss Truck and Equipment, will host a fall open house for their collection of antique Mack trucks.

The Nuss Collection Truck Museum, 6300 U.S. 63, Rochester, Minn., will host a fall open house 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 20. The museum, which usually requires an appointment, will be open all day with free admission.

"We never really intended to have a museum," Bob Nuss says. "We really just ended up with some stuff and my son Greg had a passion for it and one truck led to two, which led to four, that led to eight and pretty soon we had to have a place to put it. We were fortunate to pick this building up and remodel it to house our collection."

The collection includes the first production truck to feature the Mack bulldog, a 1933 Mack CJ with serial number 1001 that was showcased at the World's Fair in 1934.

Charles Nuss, Bob Nuss's father, became a Mack dealer in 1959. Bob worked in his father's shop during high school and joined the family business full-time in 1969. Since 1983, Nuss Truck and Equipment has expanded across the Midwest with 10 branch locations across Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin.

Today, it's a Volvo construction dealer and still plays a strong role representing Mack, with representatives on the dealer council.
