More than 170 employees of Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems helped build a house for an Ohio family on June 1.
The project helped frame a two-story home in collaboration with the Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity and Help Build Hope.
Employees from several departments helped frame a two-story home for an Ohio family at Bendix's Avon, Ohio, campus on June 1.
"We share a lasting commitment at Bendix to building communities and having a positive impact on our neighbors," says Maria Gutierrez, global head of HSE for Knorr-Bremse's CVS division. "Our employees are the heart and soul of that effort through their generosity. Helping build a house for a local family is one way we live the company culture and strive to put our social responsibility to work."
Knorr-Bremse is Bendix's Germany-based parent company.
This is the 20th home framed by Bendix employees. The wood and fasteners for the home were purchased by Bendix and the company also contributed to the roof fund along with support for wall transportation and coordination provided by CrossRoads Missions.
Employees wrote messages to the family on the framing as they built.
Avon Local Care Team members Janelle Anderson, executive assistant to the CTO and VPs, and Erich Neugebauer, agile specialist, were co-leaders of this year's build. The rest of the team provided support along with the company's Environmental, Health and Safety team, the facilities group, communications, and executive leadership. Leading up to the event, Bendix held a Habitat for Humanity ReStore collection drive.
