Getting primed for HDAW

With most of us less than a week away from departing for Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) 2016, it’s time to take a quick look at what’s on tap for the aftermarket biggest event this year.

Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016

Service Opportunities Learning Days will kick off at 12 p.m. PST Sunday with a presentation by Bob Greenwood. Greenwood, who has presented at SOLD before, will be holding a five-hour workshop detailing the impact management can have on the productivity and profitability in a service shop.

The MERA CEO Council also will converge next weekend with a 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. PST meeting on Sunday. MERA says the council agenda will include a discussion with John Blodgett of MacKay & Company, an executive insight session with various remanufacturing market leaders and a roundtable discussion led by new council Chairman David Overbeeke.

MERA also will hold a welcome reception from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. PST on Sunday for any HDAW attendees engaged in the reman industry.

Monday, Jan. 25, 2016

Heavy Duty Aftermarket Dialogue will kick off with breakfast at 7 a.m. PST on Monday. The annual conference will include economic presentations by MacKay & Company, Bob Dieli of RDLB, Inc., and the Federal Reserve, as well as panel discussions on the the 360° view of the aftermarket, the global aftermarket and the aftermarket’s future. The event is scheduled to conclude at 4:15 p.m.

Service Opportunities Learning Days will continue at 8 a.m. PST Monday with presentations on the tech and employee shortage, recruiting talent in your area, a panel discussion on building relationships with suppliers and the announcement of the top tools introduced in 2015. SOLD is scheduled to conclude at 1 p.m.

The International Truck Parts Association will hold a reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m. PST on Monday for members and interested parties.

Then HDAW officially kicks off with its Leaders of Tomorrow reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m. PST, and its All-Industry Welcome Reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016

HDAW rolls into full swing on Tuesday. The Opening General Session is scheduled for 8 to 10 a.m. PST on Tuesday, and will be followed by educational sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., then the HDAW Product Expo from 2 to 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016

HDAW continues on Wednesday with supplier and customer one-on-one meetings at 7:40 a.m. PST, then an educational session at 1 p.m., and the HDAW Product Expo from 2 to 5 p.m.

The CVSN All-Industry Pinewood Derby Challenge will follow from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

GenNext will close Wednesday’s festivities with a Texas Hold’em No-Limit Poker tournament beginning at 8:30 p.m. PST in the Mirage Poker Room.

The final day of HDAW 2016 is a one-on-one day, with meetings beginning at 7:40 a.m. PST and lasting until 5 p.m. with a brief break (12:30 to 1:30 p.m.) for lunch.
