Dayton Parts to serve as master distributor for steering manufacturer

Dayton Parts, LLC, announced at Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) 2017 on Tuesday a master distribution agreement with ProSteering Systems, Inc., to sell ProSteering’s all-makes remanufactured power steering gears for medium- and heavy-duty truck applications in the United States. The agreement is effective immediately.

“With over 90 years of combined experience in designing and building steering gears, ProSteering has a powerhouse of expertise behind their remanufacturing capabilities,” says Dan Young, product manager, Steering & Trailer Product at Dayton Parts. “We are pleased to expand our steering offering to include the ProSteering product and are confident it is an excellent complement to our already-established portfolio.”

Dayton says the new line will initially include key part numbers that cover a vast majority of market applications to meet customer demand with more part numbers to be added as the program grows.

Young says Dayton Parts was seeking a supplier-partner with a proven “remanufacturing process” as opposed to a “rebuilder,” which is often confused in the aftermarket. Each ProSteering product is remanufactured – not rebuilt – and adheres to a strict remanufacturing process, including a comprehensive core inspection, complete disassembly, wear/damage analysis, complete component replacement, and a robust black powdering coating to protect the unit from corrosion, Dayton says.

Additionally, All ProSteering products are remanufactured in an ISO-9001 certified facility. All gears include a 14 month ProVantage warranty, back by ProSteering.

“We take pride in our remanufacturing process and the products we produce,” says Aaron Beazley, program development manager, ProSteering Systems. “Dayton Parts has an outstanding reputation in the heavy-duty aftermarket, a large distribution network and a highly respected sales team, creating an ideal fit to help us reach additional distributor customers.”

Dayton says the new remanufactured power steering gears comprise TRW/Ross, Sheppard and Saginaw applications, and will be stocked at the company’s Lewisville and Harrisburg, Pa., facilities.
