Pressure Systems International (PSI) has published its March 2017 issue of Commercial Fleet Tire Digest. This month’s issue addresses tire load/inflation tables.
PSI says tire load/inflation tables are produced by the Tire and Rim Association (T&RA).
“The association issues five annual publications covering tires and wheels. It is critical that the engineering standards for a given tire size and load range is the same regardless of manufacturer. This is also true for wheels and valves,” PSI says. “Choosing the proper tire inflation pressure is always determined using the worst case load the tire will see under real world conditions.”
PSI goes on to describe how a tire load/inflation table is written, and provides examples for how vehicle owners and tire service providers can accurately read tables to properly maintain tires.
