Mississippi's governor officially opened Hunter Engineering's expanded Durant, Miss., plant this week.

Gov. Tate Reeves cut the ribbon on a 60,000-square-foot, $10 million addition. The plant, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, makes alignment racks, brake lathes and other service equipment.

"Hunter manufactures these products right here in America, right here in Mississippi and right here in Durant," Reeves says. "That's exciting to me. It tells people across this country and across the world that if you're looking to make stuff, and you're looking to bring manufacturing back to American shores, Mississippi is the place to invest."

In addition to the plant's anniversary, Hunter is marking 80 years in business. The company has additional facilities in Raymond, Miss., and a distribution center in Madison, Miss. It is a Top 100 Mississippi employer and has 1,300 U.S. employees.
