Prestone Command publishes cold weather white paper

Prestone Command has produced a white paper for the upcoming winter season.

“Inspection Essentials for Cold Weather Antifreeze/Coolant Maintenance in Heavy-Duty Vehicles” was written by  Colin Dilley, Ph. D., and vice president of technology at Prestone. In the paper, Dilley highlights how poor summer maintenance practices can come back to haunt vehicle owners during the winter months, as well as the other challenges coolant face during cold weather months.

“While the threat of winter season freezing may appear on the surface to be the primary concern for AF/C, inhibitor effectiveness is also a primary function for an effective coolant,” Dilley writes in the paper. “Testing the coolant concentration (mixture of glycol, water and inhibitors) is an important part of winter engine management.”

Dilley also writes extensively on the best solutions to combating all winter cooling challenges, and how Prestone’s Command product line can address each. He notes the importance of regular coolant testing as a proactive way to minimize winter risks.

“Having the ability to proactively initiate testing on any engine coolant system is imperative to making the right decisions for maintaining the correct levels of coolant concentrations,” he says. “By providing an easy way to test a coolant system, essential preventative maintenance need not be put off out of mere inconvenience.”
