Summit Idealase sponsoring customer compliance seminar

Summit Idealease has sponsored a private truck fleet safety and compliance seminar called, “Transportation Innovation: Leading the Way to Improve Safety and Compliance” on Wednesday at the Fogelman Executive Conference Center at the University of Memphis Campus.

The one-day seminar was designed private truck fleet professionals maintain a safe fleet, provide safety training to their managers, reduce violations and accidents, and satisfy annual Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) compliance requirements. It was provided by Idealease, Inc., in partnership with the National Private Truck Council (NPTC).

“The Idealease safety event has been a huge success in Memphis for the past four years. The participation and teamwork of the Lease & Rental Team, along with the Truck Sales Department, has been the key to the event’s popularity. This year’s registration topped 140 customers and prospects, making it the largest attended safety seminar to date,” says Cal Alexander, Summit’s vice president for Lease & Rental.

“The main speaker Dave Helge, vice president of Maintenance & Safety for Idealease Corp., has been a main stay of the event over the years. However, the grass roots effort of the local Summit team drives the attendance. I want to thank our Summit Team of Jeffrey McDermott, Stuart Hellen, and William Walker for taking ownership of the event, and helping to differentiate Summit and Idealease from the field. This truly is a Best-In-Class event.”

Summit says the 2017 seminar provides a simplified, step-by-step approach to help attendees understand how to comply with FMCSA regulations, manage commercial motor vehicle safety, and control liability exposures. Virtually all aspects of commercial truck operation were covered, including: FMCSA driver screening tools, driving qualifications, hours of service (drivers’ daily logs), drug and alcohol testing rules, vehicle maintenance and inspection, accident recordkeeping and CSA.

By attending the seminar, private truck fleet professionals learned current information to help manage fleet safety for all major areas scrutinized during state and federal compliance interventions and reviews. The seminar’s step-by-step approach simplified compliance with federal and state regulations, hours of service (drivers’ daily logs), drug and alcohol testing rules, vehicle maintenance and inspection, accident recordkeeping, and driver qualifications. Summit says attendees also learned about new and proposed regulatory changes and how to enhance their safety programs above and beyond regulation requirements.

All seminar attendees received the Idealease Guide to Transportation Safety and Compliance, a manual that assists fleet managers with safety and compliance documentation; the Idealease Pre- and Post-Trip Inspection DVD for driver education; and a subscription to the Idealease Safety Bulletin, a weekly safety and compliance e-mail publication, Summit says.

Additionally, Idealease says support for the seminar was provided by sponsors Cyntryx, TAP Publishing Company, Hercules, Anthony Liftgates, Assured Telematics, Eaton, Meritor, Goodyear, and Wex Inc.
