Bill Garrett, HR Director for Peach State Truck Centers, received the IMPACT Award at the 27th Annual HR Conference for the Atlanta Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management on March 30.
The event was held at the Galleria Business Center in Atlanta, Ga.
The company says Garrett has added to the organization in many ways since joining them four years ago.
He attained a 98 percent participation rate when he launched his comprehensive wellness plan. Garrett also launched the “PRIDe” program which aims for peer and manager nominations when acts of Pride, Respect, Integrity, and Discipline occur. His successes in transforming status quo have been so impactful that the VP of HR of a competitor asked to bring HR staff over to learn from Bill’s accomplishments.
“Bill goes above and beyond to take care of our employees each and every day,” says Rick Reynolds, CEO of Peach State Truck Centers. “What he’s been able to accomplish while working at Peach State has moved us considerably toward our goal of becoming the employer of choice in the areas that we serve. Bill is definitely deserving of SHRM IMPACT award and we’re very proud of him.”
The annual SHRM-Atlanta IMPACT Awards recognize individuals or teams in the profession of Human Resources whose actions or initiatives have demonstrated outstanding impact and benefit – above and beyond normal expectations – to their business or the community.
“I am so pleased to have been selected by my peers in human resources to receive this award,” says Garrett, who has served as Peach State’s Director of HR since August 2012. “Having your work validated is very important. I feel fortunate to have been selected to receive this award but it is important to remember that working for an organization that desires change and welcomes innovation helps make this possible.”
