Summit Truck Group locations host International engine tour

Updated Dec 1, 2017

Summit Truck Group announced Thursday it is one of a select number of International dealers hosting stops on a mobile training tour to provide customers an opportunity to experience firsthand the new International A26 engine.

Two 2018 International LT Series trucks, equipped with the International A26 12.4L engine, are traveling to more than 100 International Truck dealership locations as part of the tour, including Summit Truck Group of Springfield and Kansas City, Mo., this week. Summit says the A26 tour will ultimately visit six Summit locations. Each A26 event is provided for Class 8 customers, preceded by a Summit sales team engine disassembly and component identification training session, the company says.

“Since its introduction, the International A26 engine has continued to impress with its outstanding fuel economy and lightweight, while providing the highest level of uptime for our customers,” says Michael Cancelliere, president, Navistar Truck & Parts. “We are excited for our dealers and customers to learn just how impressive this engine is firsthand.”

“Through the A26 tour, we met with small groups of customers to provide in-depth reviews of the A26. We want our customers to have as much confidence in the A26 engine as Navistar and Summit do,” says Steve Dupuis, Summit’s Chief Operating Officer. “The A26 tour was designed to allow our sales team to focus their attention on our Class 8 customers who have not been introduced to the A26 engine before.”

Additionally, Summit Truck Group is providing an A26 demo unit to customers to test in normal operations. These demo customers reported achieving an average fuel economy of 8.6 mpg on the International LT Series truck with an A26 engine, with over 13,000 miles of operations.

Navistar’s A26 engine tour continues on into early 2018 and picks up at Summit Truck Group’s Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Okla., Little Rock, Ark., and Memphis, Tenn., locations in March 2018.
