Recall Report: Steering issues cause recall of small number of Peterbilt, Autocar units

tps safety recalls

The following safety recalls were issued Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

  • Autocar is recalling certain 2019-2020 Xpeditor vehicles. The power steering mounting bolts may loosen, possibly causing the power steering pump to disconnect. A disconnected power steering pump can cause a sudden increase of steering effort resulting in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says potentially 33 vehicles are affected by this recall.
  • Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2019-2020 Thomas Built Minotour school buses. The school buses may be missing backup cameras. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 111, “Rearview Mirrors.” The lack of rear visibility increases the risk of a crash. NHTSA says potentially 11 vehicles are affected by this recall.
  • Paccar is recalling certain 2019-2020 Peterbilt 337 and 348 vehicles. An incorrectly located weld in the steering shaft may crack and cause the lower shaft within the steering column to separate from the mating yoke. If the steering column separates from the mating yoke, loss of steering control can occur, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says potentially 109 vehicles are affected by this recall.
