Average diesel price dips slightly to $3.848

After two straight weeks of increases, the U.S. average diesel price eased six-tenths of a cent to $3.848 a gallon for the week ended Monday, Jan. 23, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The latest price is 41.8 cents higher than the same week last year.

Most regions tracked by DOE saw slightly lower average prices than the week before. The largest drop was 1 cent in both the Midwest and Lower Atlantic. Prices rose slightly in two regions — California and New England — and were flat on the West Coast. The highest average price was $4.121 in California. The lowest average price was $3.736 in the Midwest.
