The national average retail diesel price decreased by 0.7 cents to $4.027 a gallon during the week ended Dec. 3, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The latest weekly price is 9.6 cents above the same week last year.
Diesel prices rose in all but three regions — New England, the Lower Atlantic and the East Coast as a whole, which includes the other two regions. The largest of those increases was 1.8 cents in New England, which has the nation’s most expensive diesel on average at $4.221 a gallon. The largest decrease was 6.8 cents in the Rocky Mountain region. The least expensive diesel on average was in the Gulf Coast region at $3.901 a gallon.
