Tim Myers, president of Alcoa Wheels, was named 2015 chairman of the Heavy Duty Manufacturing Association (HDMA) at the 25th Annual Breakfast Briefing at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky Friday.

myers_smallMeyer takes the helm from Pat Cavanaugh, 2014 HDMA chairman and president of Enovation Controls, who says he’s proud to say during his term HDMA has attracted some of the largest players in the natural gas sector to speak to and educate its membership.

“This growth has been driven by the leading refuse transit, retail and logistics fleet,” he says.

“HDMA is a strong effective organization because of our members,” Myers adds, noting membership grew by 18 percent in the past year.

That membership growth will come in handy next week as Myers says more than 170 members of HDMA will head to Washington next week to speak to and influence lawmakers on several key items to trucking.

Connected vehicle technology will continue to be a major area of focus for HDMA Myers says, particularly in the areas of telematics and advancements toward autonomous vehicles.
