Michelin Connected Fleet Tuesday at ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council’s (TMC) 2026 Annual Meeting in Nashville introduced a new diagnostic tool aimed at reducing trailer tire failures.

Improper inflation remains a leading cause of tire failure in the trucking industry. Damon Newquist, Vice President of Sales at Michelin Connected Fleet, noted that the goal of the new tool is to move fleet maintenance from a reactive model to a predictive one, theoretically keeping drivers on the road and reducing unplanned downtime.
According to data collected during international pilot programs in Europe, proactive tire management reduced emergency roadside tire-related events by as much as 80%; increased tire lifespan up to 9% in cases where chronic under-inflation was corrected; and boosted fuel efficiency 4%.
The Smart Predictive Tire feature is currently being integrated into the company’s Trailer Premium service tier, with various deployment configurations available for different fleet types.
