Pressure Systems International (PSI) has released its fourth quarter Commercial Fleet Tire Digest. This month’s issue provides guidance on understanding irregular tire wear.
PSI says one of the best resources toward understanding tire performance is the American Trucking Associations (ATA) Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) publication “Radial Tire Conditions Analysis Guide.” PSI says the publication is distributed to trucking fleets, tire service providers, tire dealers, and truck/trailer distributors each year.
Earlier this year, the fifth edition was published. PSI says this comprehensive review of tread wear and tire conditions is the leading authority when it comes to commercial truck tire issues. PSI notes the first chapter provides importance guidance on how to tire service technicians can answer the following questions:
- Is a tire serviceable?
- Is a tire repairable and/or retreadable?
- Is a tire issue warrantable?
- What are the operational and maintenance lessons to be learned/identified related to a tire’s condition?
- Additionally, PSI notes the publication offers expertise on how to identify irregular tire wear and how to avoid common tire repairs.
