"Taking a fresh approach to cab comfort and convenience, we designed the Aspen APU from the inside out for high performance, versatility, durability, reliability and easy of use," says Ryan Rubly, Carrier Transicold's product manager for alternative power. "We've added an innovative and easy-to-use control interface for drivers along with new APU configuration options for heating and hotel power loads."

The Aspen APU is built with marine-grade components and enhanced alloys for strength and corrosion resistance. Electronics are automotive grade and IP67 rated, and the unit is protected by a lightweight, corrosion-free housing cover that provides easy access to the power plant, even behind fairings.

"Technicians will appreciate our new CabinTech PC software that enables fast setup, service and troubleshooting of the Aspen APU," Rubly says.

The Aspen APU also features a programmable driver interface, 12,000 BTU/h of cab cooling, greater heating versatility and high-grade power for appliances, computers and more, which can be augmented with an optional inverter to maintain hotel loads while the truck is moving. The unit can also be operated using 115-volt shore power when equipped with an optional adapter.

Carrier is offering several models of the Aspen APU, including an integrated system that uses coolant exchange for truck engine preheating and a stand-alone unit that power's the truck's block heater for engine heating. There's also a power-only version for work trucks that need auxiliary power but not cab climate control.
