AutoMeter released a liftgate charging test for the BCT-468. It can test and troubleshoot liftgate charging and motor circuits with user-guided screens, including hook-up diagrams.
The test takes two minutes or less, AutoMeter says, and it follows TMC's RP-129B for accuracy. It can also perform a full system test and identify weak batteries that may not adequately support additional vehicle loads. With a two-piece removable tablet design, it also allows for a single technician to perform testing.
The BCT-486 is compatible with thin plate pure lead (Northstar/Odyssey) and AGM technology and is Wi-Fi enabled for real-time data collection and alerts to help fleets leverage data analytics.
The tool's leads are field-replaceable for easy maintenance and it includes a camera for scanning capabilities, a built-in non-contact IR battery temperature measurement, and automated voltage drop testing on cables, liftgates, stinger cords and magnetic circuits.
It is also compatible with AmpNet, cloud-based data management for secure data storage of diagnostic tool tests. AmpNet allows for over-the-air firmware downloads for AutoMeter test equipment and helps facilitate predictive maintenance, the company says.
