Garmin has a new dual-camera system to provide blind-spot monitoring and automatic incident recording.

Garmin debuted the dēzl DualView two-camera system to provide clear views down the side of a truck.

"In keeping with our focus of simplifying life for professional truck drivers, the dēzl DualView is a purpose-built solution that promotes increased driver awareness when behind the wheel," says Susan Lyman, Garmin's vice president of consumer sales and marketing. "Not only does it give drivers more confidence when changing lanes or backing up, but also having video proof of events can be invaluable for protecting their driving reputation."

Video from the cameras is viewable in-cab on a paired tablet, dēzl over-the-road navigator or compatible RV navigator. Detected incidents can be recorded automatically in high-definition video and saved.

The system can also give drivers visual alerts when traffic moves into blind spots and for merging vehicles. Saved videos can be viewed and shared with a subscription plan and active Wi-Fi or via a microSD card. When paired with the dēzl OTR navigator, the driver can use voice commands to control camera views.

Garmin says the cameras are IPX7-rated to withstand the elements and are secured to side mirrors or on another flat surface on the truck.
