Pro-Cut Brake Solutions introduces its Pro–Cut X1 HD On–Truck Brake Lathe, designed to help service shops and fleets increase profitability and decrease downtime when performing brake service on heavy-duty vehicles
“Heavy-duty vehicles can have multiple brake systems and new rotors can cost hundreds of dollars each and take hours to replace,” says Jeff Hastings, president of Pro–Cut. “Installing new rotors on heavy duty vehicles is hard work, time consuming and expensive. The X1 brake lathe machines the rotor in about 30 minutes, saving the cost of a replacement rotor and hours of vehicle downtime.”
Pro-Cut says its X1 is powered by a 48V DC variable speed motor with the power to turn large vehicle axles. Its low–range gearbox provides ample torque while adjustable tool arms and 190 mm feed screw enables techs to match–machine the largest rotors in the industry. It features separate speed and feed controls as well as everything needed to machine the rotors without removing them from the hub, the company says.

“The Pro–Cut X1 brake lathe is expertly designed for service providers who perform heavy-duty brake service. For some vehicles, replacing one disc can be a six–hour operation. By repairing rather than replacing these specific rotors, the Pro–Cut X1 can pay for itself in one brake job,” says Hastings. “Since the Pro–Cut X1 is an on-truck brake lathe, fleets and service providers will also realize significant labor time savings since replacing even one disc can be time consuming and labor intensive.
