Noregon has released its latest software application, CAN Mentor, a vehicle network diagnostic tool that measures voltage and resistance without using a multimeter or oscilloscope.
Noregon says the software connects to a vehicle using Noregon’s DLA+ 3.0 XBT adapter, checks the CAN network for out-of-spec issues and then directs the user to the affected area on the vehicle.
“This new technology makes network diagnostics accessible for technicians of all skill levels,” says Jason Hedman, product manager. “Without having an extensive background in network analysis, technicians can use CAN Mentor to diagnose communication issues and know where to begin troubleshooting the issue.”
Noregon says CAN Mentor is the latest signal of its rapid ascension into other areas of maintenance and service technology beyond its JPRO Diagnostics solutions. In recent years, Noregon has developed and launched a variety of tools and services to run a repair shop, including shop management software, compliance tools and remote technician support.

“Vehicles are more complex and connected than ever, making it essential to give technicians access to technology and services that make it easier to work on them,” says Hedman. “We develop tools that train technicians while they use the application, so unfamiliar repairs quickly become routine work for them. CAN Mentor is the latest example of that.”
CAN Mentor is now available and can be purchased directly from Noregon. Options include truck diagnostic software only for users who have an XBT adapter or a bundled version with an adapter kit.
