Continental has launched the new Conti HSR 5 EP steer tire and Conti HDR 5 EP drive tire, the latest additions to the company's Generation 5 regional haul portfolio.
Developed specifically for the demands of regional fleet operations, the company says the new tires are engineered to deliver increased mileage, improved fuel efficiency and extended casing durability, helping fleets reduce total cost of ownership.
Built for routes featuring frequent starts and stops, urban and suburban driving, and varying road conditions, the Conti HSR 5 EP and Conti HDR 5 EP combine advanced tread designs with Continental's latest compound technology to provide a balanced approach to wear performance, rolling resistance and retreadability.
"Regional fleets continue to face mounting pressure to improve operating efficiency while controlling costs," says Shaun Uys, vice presiden, marketing and sales, Truck Tires U.S. "The new Conti HSR 5 EP and Conti HDR 5 EP were developed to help fleets go farther on every tire investment through increased removal mileage, lower fuel consumption and enhanced casing life."
Conti HSR 5 EP
The Conti HDR 5 EP regional drive tire is designed to provide strong traction, durability and long tread life in demanding regional applications. The tire incorporates an open shoulder tread design, enhanced stone-trapping resistance and improved cut-and-chip protection to help safeguard casing integrity and maximize retread potential. The HDR 5 EP delivers an estimated 19% improvement in removal mileage compared with its predecessor while maintaining rolling resistance performance that supports fuel savings, the company ads.
Together, Continental says the HSR 5 EP and HDR 5 EP provide regional fleets with a comprehensive tire solution engineered around three key performance objectives: more miles; lower fuel costs; and longer casing life.
Additional benefits of the new Generation 5 regional haul tires are said to include:
- Advanced tread compounds balancing milage and rolling resistance
- Enhanced casing durability for increased retreadability
- Improved wear performance for lower cost per mile
- All-weather capability for year-round operation
- Designs optimized for modern regional haul applications
The new products were developed to support evolving fleet sustainability and efficiency requirements while maintaining the durability and performance characteristics regional operators expect from Continental truck tires.
The Conti HSR 5 EP and Conti HDR 5 EP are available beginning October 2026 in key regional haul sizes, with additional size extensions planned throughout 2027.
