Meritor names sales GMs

Meritor Inc. on Tuesday, May 31, announced the appointments of Matthew Stevenson as general manager, North American Field Operations & Marketing, and John Nelligan as general manager, OEM Sales & National Accounts. Both report directly to Joe Plomin, vice president, Truck Americas, Meritor.

Stevenson is responsible for leadership of the North America field sales team, service, training, fleet and dealer relationships and Meritor WABCO field sales. He also will retain responsibility for product marketing in North America supporting the company’s Truck, Trailer and Specialty business units.

“Matt has been a valuable asset to the Marketing team in the time he has been with the company,” Plomin says. “His field sales background and product marketing experience make him an excellent choice for this position.”

Prior to joining Meritor in 2010, Stevenson spent nearly 10 years at Daimler Trucks North America and held several positions of increasing responsibility within DTNA, including executive level positions in the areas of marketing, sales and product strategy. He has worked in the commercial truck industry since 1997.

Nelligan is responsible for Meritor’s OEM customers in North America, and he also will retain responsibility for Meritor’s large national accounts. “John’s extensive background in the North America truck industry is a vital component to being successful in this role,” Plomin says. “He brings the perfect blend of experience and knowledge to this job.”

Nelligan most recently served as general manager, North American Field Operations, and brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the role. Prior to joining Meritor in 2009, he spent four years as Dealer Principal and GM at Harper Truck Centres Inc. in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He has also previously held executive positions at Daimler Trucks North America and Western Star Trucks. Nelligan replaces Dennis Kline, who recently retired from Meritor after 36 years.
