Mack distributor MACASA expands Ecuador operations

Maquinas y Camiones S.A., one of Ecuador’s oldest private importers of Mack Trucks, recently expanded its operations in Guayaquil, the country’s largest city, opening the doors to a new $10 million 6,585-square-meter facility. “Mack is well known for its durability, reliability performance and customer support,” says Luis Fernando Gomez, MACASA executive president. “Our new facility enhances our ability to serve customers and deliver on those brand expectations.”

The expanded Guayaquil location now houses 26 work bays, seven paint bays, two wash bays, and four Quick Lube bays, where MACASA’s 17 technicians can inspect customer vehicles and change oil and filters. The 1.23-square-meter warehouse carries more than $3 million in Mack inventory. Gomez says demand for Mack trucks continues to grow as increasing public and private investment in infrastructure projects, mining and agricultural operations fuels strong heavy-duty truck sales.

“Mack and MACASA share many similarities, as both have long histories and have helped their countries develop” says Denny Slagle, Mack Trucks president and chief executive officer. “Both are also dedicated to business integrity, to product quality and to delivering excellent customer support. Customers are the foundation of our business, and MACASA is clearly committed to serving their customers and furthering Mack’s standing as a leader in the global heavy-duty market.”

MACASA has represented Mack since 1975 and has twice been named Mack’s International Distributor of the year.
