Cole Hersee introduces low-voltage disconnect switch

Cole Hersee, a division of Littelfuse CVP, has introduced the FlexMod family of electronic battery monitoring products.

The FlexMod series is designed to preserve power in a battery during a vehicle shut down in order to maintain the requisite energy needed for a vehicle start up.

The FlexMod Low-Voltage Disconnect switch shuts down all non-mission critical electronic parts when a battery’s power falls below 12.1 volts, and the company says customers have the option to spec each switch’s list of mission critical and non-mission critical parts.

In creating the low-voltage switch, Gary Keefe, Cole Hersee director of global sales, says a driver can now use his battery to power a liftgate without also running the truck’s lights, stereo, heating and air conditioning systems, etc.

The FlexMod Electronic Voltage Sensing Relay & Timer switch works similar to the low-voltage disconnect, and is designed to shut down a battery after one hour of continuous use or when it reaches the voltage threshold, whichever comes first, the company says. The relay and timer switch also provides a warning at 55 minutes that the battery is about to be shut down.

Keefe says all FlexMod switches automatically reconnect when the engine starts and the battery begins recharging.

Cole Hersee says all FlexMod switches feature a manual override button in case extra battery power is needed. The switches also work on 12V and 24V systems, and are 4 in. by 3 in. by 1 in. in size. They also are waterproof, dustproof and vibration proof, and have an ingress protection of IP67, the company says.
