Fifth Wheel Buddy seeks partners

InventHelp, an invention submission company, recently announced an inventor from California has designed a device to make it easier to pull the handle that disconnects the fifth wheel from a trailer. The invention is patented and a prototype is available.

The “Fifth Wheel Buddy” includes a handle, a pulley and two hooks which work in conjunction to give the user more leverage to disengage the fifth wheel. The pulley system uses one release hook that connects to the handle to disengage the fifth wheel, and the stationary hook connects to any solid part of the truck or trailer. To use, the trucker secures the release hook to the disengagement handle and the other to the truck. The user would then pull on the Fifth Wheel Buddy’s handle, which provides added leverage to help dislocate the arm and release the coupling on the wheel. Interchangeable hooks and pulleys could be produced in different sizes and materials for use on trucks with different applications.

The inventor – a truck driver – said the device saves time and effort when disconnecting the fifth wheel and that the Fifth Wheel Buddy lessens the risk of injury involved with this act.

InventHelp is attempting to submit the invention to companies for review. If substantial interest is expressed, the company will attempt to negotiate for a sale or royalties for the inventor. For more information, telephone Dept. 09-OCM-222 at (800) 851-6030.
