Clarience welcomes wireless Safe Fleet Air Vue into its portfolio

Updated Mar 8, 2024

On the heels of its Smart Fleet acquisition last month, Clarience Technologies has announced the integration of the Air Vue camera system to its suite of trailer-mounted safety and visibility product offerings. Safe Fleet has installed nearly 1.5 million video systems across a variety of industries and applications, and the Air Vue system is now in pilot programs for commercial trucking applications with more than 20 fleets.

Clarience Technologies believes its Air Vue is set to be a leader in the space amid the rise in popularity in trailer cameras. The Air Vue system consists of up to four trailer-mounted cameras that connect wirelessly to an in-cab monitor to provide the driver greater visibility at the rear and sides of the tractor-trailer combination. The rear camera establishes a wireless connection to a single hub mounted on the trailer. Additional integration of side cameras help eliminate blind spots and reduce the occurrences of side swipes. The system also has options for a forward-facing camera or additional rear camera on the tractor.

The Air Vue transmitter can deliver an uninterrupted signal that’s strong enough to span triple trailers. The system features button-less pairing so that drivers do not have to do anything different when tethering a trailer, making for seamless trailer switching. Air Vue also integrates with major telematics service providers Lytx, Netradyne and Samsara, and integration with Road Ready is in process.

At the American Trucking Association's Technology and Maintenance Council meeting in New Orleans this week, Mark Johnson, Clarience Technologies' executive vice president and chief marketing officer said the rise of trailer camera technology in transportation cameras are increasingly playing a bigger role in trucking safety.

Johnson called the camera system part of "a digital safety ecosystem" that connects smart technologies and solutions with software that enables data-driven insights and actions that improve safety outcomes and performance.

The addition of the Air Vue system is the next step in Clarience Technologies’ vision of deeper integration of the company’s portfolio of smart tractor-trailer technologies with its Fus1on ecosystem.

"We envision a digital safety ecosystem built from connecting a variety of smart technologies and solutions with software enabling data-driven insights and actions that improve safety outcomes and performance,” said Paul Sniegocki, executive vice president and chief technology officer. “With the right pieces now in place, we are accelerating our research and development efforts including close collaboration with our customers and technology partners."
