Accuride Corporation announced Monday at the ATA's Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting in New Orleans that its Gunite-branded 3922X cast iron brake drum will now be produced in Accuride’s Rockford, Ill., Gunite foundry.
Based on customer demand for a competitive domestically made brake drum, Gunite foundry has updated their tooling to produce the drum for the North American market. The drum, with part number 3922XUSA, is a 105 lb., cast-iron drum with an optimized design for aftermarket applications, the company says.
“Customers have been asking us for an American made version of the 3922X for a few years, and we feel that the time was right to bring it back to Rockford,” says Jayne Orr, Accuride’s senior vice president for North American Sales.
