The shop manager for Corona, Calif.-based National Distribution Services, Inc., has been sentenced for conducting illegal repairs on hazardous materials tankers, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General.

Enrique “Henry” Garcia was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison, one year of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.

In January, Garcia pleaded guilty to conducting welding repairs on hazardous material tankers without required Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration certifications.

Two diesel shops in Colorado also recently pleaded guilty to conspiring with a Colorado-based diesel shop to remove or alter the monitoring component of emissions control systems on Class 8 trucks, thereby violating the Clean Air Act.
