The following safety recalls were issued Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):
- East Manufacturing is recalling certain 2018-2021 Frame Dump Trailers. The steering arm may fracture during certain conditions, such as low speed and high side-loading. The fractured steering arm and tie rod can separate and fall to the ground, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says potentially 17 units are affected by the recall.
- New Flyer of America is recalling certain 2013-2022 XDE35, XDE40, XDE60, XE40, XN40, 2017-2022 XE60, 2014-2022 XT40 and XT60 transit buses equipped with a double tilt steering column. The steering column connection to the upper steering shaft may become loose. A loose steering shaft can cause a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says potentially 746 units are affected by the recall.
- Paccar is recalling certain 2022-2023 Peterbilt 579 vehicles. The molded hood mirror assemblies may break at the pivot joint and, if unsecured by a harness or tether, can fall into the roadway. A molded hood mirror that falls into the roadway can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says potentially 2,525 units are affected by the recall.
