The following safety recalls were issued Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):
- Daimler Trucks North America, (DTNA) is recalling certain Thomas Built Buses 2019-2022 Saf-T-Liner C2, Saf-T-Liner EFX, Saf-T-Liner HDX, Minotour DRW, 2020-2022 Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley, and Minotour SRW school buses. The Emergency Exit Label lettering is too small and may be difficult to read. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release." Emergency exit labels that are difficult to read can prevent or delay the use of the emergency exit, increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA says 27,494 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Mack Trucks is recalling certain 2024-2025 Anthem, Granite, and Pinnacle vehicles equipped with RollTek driver's seat assemblies. The seat pedestal and seat belt attachment may have been improperly tightened. An improperly tightened seat pedestal and seat belt attachment may not restrain the occupant as intended, increasing their risk of injury during a crash.
- NHTSA says 242 units are potentially affected by the recall.Nova Bus is recalling certain 2016-2019 LFS and LFS Artic buses. The brake chamber on the rear axle may have been improperly manufactured, which can result in an air leak. A brake chamber air leak may cause the brakes to engage unexpectedly, which can overheat the brakes and increase the risk of a fire. Additionally, unexpected braking can increase the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 534 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Nova Bus is recalling certain 2019-2023 LFS and 2019-2020 LFS Arctic buses. The glazing used on the glass windows may reduce the driver's visibility. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS number 205, "Glazing Materials." Reduced visibility while driving can increase the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 186 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Nova Bus is recalling certain 2019-2021 LFS and 2019 LFS Artic buses. The brake chamber on the rear axle may have been improperly manufactured, which can result in an air leak. A brake chamber air leak may cause the brakes to engage unexpectedly, which can overheat the brakes and increase the risk of a fire. Additionally, unexpected braking can increase the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 166 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Tiffin Motorhomes, is recalling certain 2022-2023 Phaeton, Allegro Bus, and Zephyr motorhomes. The PowerGlide chassis controller may have insufficient circuit protection, which can result in a blown fuse and cause an engine shutdown. An engine shutdown increases the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 393 units are potentially affected by the recall.
