The following safety recalls were issued Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):
- Autocar is recalling certain 2023-2024 ACX (Xpeditor). The retaining ring could be missing from the cab tilt hinge pin, leaving the pin unsecured. An unsecured pin can separate from the vehicle and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 841 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Freightliner Custom Chassis S2C 106 and 2024-2025 Freightliner Custom Chassis S2RV 106 vehicles. The brake lights may not illuminate when the brakes are automatically applied during an active brake assist (ABA) event. Brake lights that fail to illuminate can fail to indicate to other drivers that the vehicle is slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 37 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Daimler Vans USA is recalling certain 2023-2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles. The spring U-bolts for the rear axle may have reduced strength due to improper heat-treatment, which can cause the rear axle to shift out of position. An axle that moves out of position can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 1,232 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Forest River Bus is recalling certain 2023-2024 Starcraft Starlite transit buses. The emergency exit handles and labels are not easily accessible which can prevent or delay the exit of passengers in the event of an emergency. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release." In the event of a crash or fire, passengers may not be able to exit the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA says 62 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Nova Bus is recalling certain 2021-2024 LFS and 2021-2023 LFS Artic buses. An air leak may occur in the parking brake valve and unintentionally engage the parking brake without activating the brake lights. A bus that stops suddenly without activating brake lights increases the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 901 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Nova Bus is recalling certain 2022-2023 LFS buses. The windshield wiper arms may be incorrectly aligned, which can cause the wiper blades to collide. Damaged wiper blades can reduce visibility in certain weather conditions, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 34 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Prevost Car is recalling certain 2005-2024 X3-45, 2017-2019 and 2021-2023 X3-45 Commuter, 2006-2007, 2014, and 2018 H3-41, 2005-2020 and 2022-2024 H3-45, and 2019 H3-45 VIP vehicles equipped with a wheelchair lift. The wheelchair platform bridging device may be too steep, which can cause the wheelchair to become unstable. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS numbers 403, "Platform Lift Devices" and 404, "Platform Lift Installations." An unstable wheelchair increases the risk of injury to lift occupants. NHTSA says 2,653 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Spartan Fire is recalling certain 2023-2024 Gladiator, 2024-2025 Metro Star and 2024 KME Panther vehicles equipped with certain independent front suspension assemblies.
