
The following safety recalls were issued Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):
- Corp. Micro Bird is recalling certain 2003-2026 MB II, 2006-2026 G5, and 2015-2026 T-Series school buses. An installation error may prevent the wheelchair tie-downs from locking, leaving the wheelchair improperly secured. An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit or a crash, increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA says 584 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Corp. Micro Bird is recalling certain 2002-2015 MB II, 2008-2026 G5, and 2015-2026 T-Series transit buses. An installation error may prevent the wheelchair tie-downs from locking, leaving the wheelchair improperly secured. An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit or a crash, increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA says 345 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2025-2026 F-59 and F-53 commercial stripped chassis vehicles. The exterior brake lights may remain illuminated when the driver is not applying the brakes. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Brake lights that remain illuminated can fail to alert other vehicles of the driver's intention, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 2,422 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Mack Trucks is recalling certain 2022-2027 TerraPro trucks. The engine control unit (ECU) software may allow the engine to start when the transmission is not in Neutral. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." Starting the vehicle while in gear may cause unexpected vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. NHTSA says 775 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Micro Bird USA is recalling certain 2026 G5 transit buses. An installation error may prevent the wheelchair tie-downs from locking, leaving the wheelchair improperly secured. An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit or a crash, increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA says 46 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Orange EV is recalling certain 2022-2023 T-Series Pure Electric Terminal Trucks, 2023-2025 e-TRIEVER, and 2023-2026 HUSK-e terminal trucks. The optional foldaway training seat may fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS numbers 207, "Seating Systems" and 210, Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages." A seat that fails may not properly restraining an occupant during a crash, increasing risk of injury. NHTSA says 462 units are potentially affected by the recall.
