Mack wants to help customers choose between their two new models, the Pioneer and the Anthem

"For the first time in our 125-year history, Mack offers two completely new, from the ground up, highway trucks that give customers the power to choose exactly what their businesses need," says Stephen Roy, global president of Mack Trucks. "Whether prioritizing maximum fuel efficiency, driver comfort or maximum maneuverability, our customers no longer have to compromise. Both trucks deliver exceptional performance in day cab and sleeper configurations, expanding possibilities across all highway applications."

Each of the new models represents a different approach, Mack says. The Pioneer has a 125.5-in., bumper to back of cab length, prioritizing aerodynamic performance and can achieve up to 11% improvement in fuel efficiency compared with previous Mack models, the company says. The Anthem, meanwhile, has a shorter, 113.5-inch bumper to back of cab length. That makes it more maneuverable, Mack says. The company adds it's 10% more fuel efficient than its predecessor in the lineup.

"This isn't about limiting trucks to specific routes or applications," says Jonathan Randall, president of Mack Trucks North America. "It's about giving customers the tools to optimize their operations. We see Pioneer day cabs excelling in fuel-conscious operations, and Anthem sleepers serving drivers who need both comfort and maneuverability. The choice depends on what matters most to each customer's bottom line."

Mack says the Anthem's shorter design gives drivers more visibility for maneuvering in tight spaces and urban environments and port facilities. The Pioneer, meanwhile, has an extended aerodynamic profile and has optional features such as a digital mirror system and an available 76-in., high-roof sleeper configuration.

Both trucks have identical interior cab dimensions with a nine-inch width increase over previous models, Mack says, as well as:

  • Premium seating with dual armrests, heating, cooling and massage functions.
  • Advanced HVAC systems.
  • Push-button start.
  • Mack mDrive automated manual transmission column shifters.

"We strategically designed and engineered both trucks to share the same premium interior experience," says Vincent Lokers, specialist chief designer at Mack Trucks. "Drivers shouldn't have to sacrifice comfort based on their truck's operational priority. Whether you're in a Pioneer or an Anthem, you're experiencing the pinnacle of driver comfort."

The Pioneer and the Anthem come in day cab, 44-in., sleeper and 64-in., sleeper models. The 76-inch sleeper is exclusive to the Pioneer.

Both trucks feature Mack Protect, a proprietary advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), frontal airbags and an optional integrated curtain airbag system. Mack Connect telematics, over-the-air programming and the MyMack driver app are standard for both models.

"The question isn't whether you need a long-haul or regional truck anymore," says Frenando Couceiro, vice president of highway trucks. "The question is: What does your operation prioritize? If every penny of fuel savings matters and you're running high annual mileage, the Pioneer is your answer. If you need maximum maneuverability for tight delivery locations, weight-sensitive applications or simply prefer the superior forward visibility, the Anthem is ideal."

Production has started on the Pioneer and Anthem order books are open. Production on the Anthem will begin in January at the Mack's Lehigh Valley Operations facility, Macungie, Penn.

"This comprehensive highway lineup represents Mack's commitment to providing solutions, not just trucks," Roy says. "By offering two exceptional choices, each optimized for different priorities, we're empowering our customers to build fleets that precisely match their operational needs."
