Paccar Parts is participating in Hiring Our Heroes (HOH), a program hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to help veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses find meaningful employment.
As a corporate fellowship employer, Paccar Parts is hosting five Hiring Our Heroes fellows in the first quarter of 2021. The fellowship program works with participating companies to carefully match fellows who will undergo a 12-week program with on-the-job training, networking events and weekly educational sessions.
Since 2017, Paccar Parts says it has hired 16 Hiring Our Heroes participants into full-time positions.
“Paccar Parts understands what an HOH fellow brings to the table. We can make an immediate, positive impact on the team we work with, which often translates into enhanced team success. Paccar Parts has provided me with a second career that is much more than just a job,” says Mike Udell, Paccar Parts sales manager and former Hiring Our Heroes fellow.
“Paccar Parts truly understands our mission of offering a fellowship that leads to a new career with the company. The corporate fellowship Program Northwest began in 2015 and for the last six years, Paccar Parts has hosted, hired and retained fellows at an incredible rate, making it a Top 3 ‘Veteran Ready’ employer,” adds Rob Comer, senior fellowship program manager, Hiring Our Heroes.
“Veterans have hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology and a greater appreciation for the diverse nature of our globalized economy. That knowledge and experience, combined with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, are examples of what PACCAR Parts is looking for when recruiting new hires,” says Maegan Ortega, Paccar Parts director of human resources. “It is one of the many reasons why the Hiring Our Heroes program has been successful at Paccar Parts.”
