Volvo's FH Electric has made history by becoming the first electric truck to win the prestigious International Truck of the Year 2024 award.

It was bound to happen eventually. For the first time ever, an all-electric truck has been named the 2024 International Truck of the Year, an award bestowed by 24 commercial vehicle journalists from trucking publications throughout Europe. The annual award is given to a truck introduced to the market in the previous 12 months "that has made the most significant contribution to road transport efficiency," the organization claims.

Its 2024 nod as Top Truck is the fourth time that Volvo’s FH model has been named Truck of the Year.

“With the introduction of the FH Electric, Volvo Trucks has delivered a state-of-the-art battery electric vehicle range, suitable for a wide array of transport operations. It's proof that the energy transition is gaining strength even in today's challenging business environment,” said Gianenrico Griffini, chairman of the International Truck of the Year.

Production of the Volvo FH Electric started in 2022 in Volvo’s Gothenburg, Sweden facility, and production in Ghent, Belgium, began this year.
