Meritor has released a wheel bearing adjustment system for the aftermarket.
The company says the Doctor Preload and Temper-Loc have proven to be a cost-effective time-saver when technicians set proper preload for wheel-end bearings. The Doctor Preload Tool adjusts wheel-end bearing to meet SAE J2535 recommended preload settings.
Features and benefits include:
- Measured, precise, repeatable setting to optimal preload for more time on the road
- Improved tire life
- Optimal bearing, spindle and wheel seal life
- Decreased ABS faults
The Temper-Loc precision single-locking nut system provides accurate and exacting bearing adjustment. The nut system sets optimal wheel-end preload maximizing tire life and vehicle uptime.
Features and benefits include:
- Heat-treated nut face for superior strength
- Fingertip control retainer ring for ease of placement and positioning
- EasyView verification of positive locking
Doctor Preload and Temper-Loc also offers ergonomic advantages compared to the traditional torque-wrench method because the spindle is threaded. Technicians do not have to hold the weight of the tool during adjustment, and both hands can be used to apply force instead of one hand needed to hold the torque wrench in place.
The Doctor Preload tool and Temper-Loc nuts are eligible for the Meritor Wheel End Extended Warranty on both trucks and trailers, which offers increased warranty coverage when complementary Meritor wheel-end products are purchased and installed together.
