Repair & Refrigeration in Edgar, Wis., has been named the 2018 Top Tech winner. Lang finished 44th overall at the 2018 TMC SuperTech Competition recently held in Orlando, Fla.
TMC SuperTech is a two-day competition featuring a written exam and 16 hands-on stations: brakes, CSA compliance, cybersecurity, drivetrain, electrical meters, engine (electronics), fifth wheel, HVAC, liftgates, service information, starting and charging, steering and suspension, tire and wheel, Tractor PMI, vehicle control systems and wheel end.
“The focus for this competition was our independent technicians, the opportunity for them to showcase their knowledge and hands-on skills for the first time on a national level. It created a recognition opportunity for our entire Truck Service Experts program and we’re incredibly proud of Evan’s success,” says Nikki Paschall, marketing programs manager at HDA Truck Pride.
“With the support of our Supplier Partners, Evan has won a prize package valued at over $10,000, with prizes from ATRO, BBB Wilson, Bosch OTC, DAS, DG Technologies, East Penn, Fontaine Fifth Wheel, FPPF, Gates, Haldex, ISN Tool Web, MEI, Milton, New Pig, Penray, Permatex and Shinn Fu. Lang was joined at TMC SuperTech by second finalist Brian Judy from RT&T Repair. Judy completed the written exam and hands-on competition, placing 61st overall. The two also competed in a team event and finished 8th. E.L.M. Repair & Refrigeration is a Truck Service Expert of Zientara Fleet Equipment, while RT&T Repair is sponsored by Midwest Wheel. Truck Service Experts are independent service facilities with a focus on customer service, technology and training. All 400 locations are sponsored by a HDA Truck Pride member. The program gives a locally owned repair shop national exposure with its HDA Truck Pride affiliation.
